Salvation is a real encounter with God’s grace. Receive it with faith. Treasure it deeply. Grow in it daily.
When you turn from sin and place your trust in Jesus Christ, you begin a new life with God. The One who saves you also gives His Spirit to dwell in you.
1. New birth. New life.
Jesus spoke of being “born again” (John 3:3–8). Christianity reaches into the heart: through Christ, God forgives, reconciles, and makes us new. Jesus died for our sins and rose again; our hope rests in Him.
You cannot purchase this life or earn it through religious effort. Salvation is God’s gift, received through faith. Good works follow as the fruit of His grace (Ephesians 2:8–10; 2 Corinthians 5:17–21).
What could be more precious than belonging to God and receiving life in His Son?
2. God gives His Spirit
“after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”
Ephesians 1:13 · KJV · excerpt
Paul describes the Holy Spirit as the “earnest of our inheritance” (Ephesians 1:14): God’s pledge of what is to come. His seal speaks of belonging. You have been received by God, and His Spirit is present in your life.
The Holy Spirit is God’s personal presence, teaching, helping, comforting, and shaping those who belong to Christ. He is more than a passing sensation or a moment of excitement.
“that he may abide with you for ever;”
John 14:16 · KJV · excerpt
3. The witness within
“He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself:”
1 John 5:10 · KJV · excerpt
This is the witness of God concerning His Son. John goes on to say that eternal life is in Jesus and writes so believers may know they have that life (1 John 5:11–13).
“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
Romans 8:16 · KJV
The Spirit brings assurance of belonging to the Father. His work also becomes evident as He draws us toward Christ, teaches us to turn from sin, and grows love and obedience in us.
Your feelings may change. God’s promise remains your foundation.
Some people remember a dramatic moment of conversion; others come to faith quietly. Believers can also experience seasons of doubt or dryness. Do not measure the reality of salvation by the intensity of an emotion. Look to Christ, trust His Word, and seek encouragement from mature believers.
4. Treasure this life—and stay watchful
A precious gift deserves attention. Temptation, deception, neglect, and the pressures of life can challenge our faith. Peter calls believers to be vigilant and resist the devil, steadfast in the faith (1 Peter 5:8–9).
Take temptation seriously. Refuse habits that draw you away from Christ. Seek support rather than hiding a struggle. When you sin, confess it and turn back to God; His Word points us to forgiveness and to Jesus Christ our advocate (1 John 1:9–2:2).
Watchfulness grows alongside confidence in God’s faithfulness. We depend on His grace as we persevere.
5. Abide in Christ. Keep receiving His fullness.
“Abide in me, and I in you.”
John 15:4 · KJV · excerpt
A branch receives its life from the vine. In the same way, continue in your relationship with Jesus: listen to His Word, pray honestly, obey His teaching, and practise His love (John 15:1–12).
“but be filled with the Spirit;”
Ephesians 5:18 · KJV · excerpt
The surrounding passage connects this fullness with worship, thanksgiving, and humility toward one another. Keep yielding your thoughts, choices, relationships, and conduct to God. Ask the Spirit to strengthen you for a faithful life.
6. Feed your new life
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
1 Peter 2:2 · KJV
A newborn needs nourishment. So does a new believer. Make room for Scripture every day. Read a passage in context, ask what it teaches about God, and take one practical step of obedience.
- Read: begin with John’s Gospel and learn who Jesus is.
- Pray: speak honestly to God, with thanksgiving, confession, and trust.
- Belong: join a faithful local church; learn about baptism and grow with other believers.
- Practise: put the Word into action in your home, work, and relationships.
Have you received this gift?
Jesus invites you to come to Him. Acknowledge your sin and your need for mercy. Believe that He died for your sins and rose again. Turn toward Him and entrust your life to Him (Romans 10:9–13).
Prayer can express that faith. The words themselves are no formula; salvation is found in Jesus Christ. If you already believe, use the prayer below to renew your gratitude and commitment to walk with Him.

A prayer of faith and commitment
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and making reconciliation possible through Jesus Christ. I confess my sin and my need for Your mercy. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again, and I place my trust in Him.
Forgive me, receive me, and teach me to follow Jesus. Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Help me rest in Your promises, treasure the life You give, and remain close to Christ.
Give me a hunger for Your Word. Fill me with Your Spirit, strengthen me against temptation, and help me turn quickly to You when I stumble. Lead me into a faithful church community, and let Your love become visible in my everyday life.
Keep me growing in faith, obedience, and hope. May my life bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
